From June 6 to 12, A Rocha hosted its first Creation Care Institute in Santa Barbara, California. The week was filled with classroom and outdoor learning, fieldwork, worship, fun and more. Participants from around the country were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to design, launch and manage conservation projects in their own communities.
Instruction was provided by such faculty as Ben Lowe, author of Green Revolution: Coming Together to Care for Creation and Director of Renewal; Rev. Ed Brown, author of Our Father's World and Director of Care of Creation; and Doug Satre, Director of Outreach and Development at Plant with Purpose.
Topics for the week included:
the biblical basis for
environmental stewardship;
-
citizen-level conservation science;
-
organizing projects and volunteers; and
-
funding conservation efforts
